Attributes Library

Attributes Library

Overview

The Attributes library is where you can create and manage reusable attributes. Once an attribute is in the library, it can be inserted directly into tests rather than being built from scratch each time. The attributes are not assigned to any particular scale; they can be used within tests in Category scalesLine scales, Numeric questions, and LMS.

If you are interested in activating this feature for your subscription, contact Compusense Support for details.

Alert Attributes cannot be permanently deleted. They can only be set to Inactive to remove them from active use.

Notes
Access to the Attributes library is based on your permission level within your analyst group(s). If you do not have access, contact our Support for assistance.

  1. From the Compusense Dashboard, from the black ribbon on the top, select Libraries.

  2. Select Attributes library from the menu.

The library opens a table listing all attributes your analyst group(s) have access to. By default, only Active attributes are shown. Use the status filter to display Inactive attributes or both.

The following columns are displayed by default:

  • ID  — unique attribute identifier.
  • Name — the internal name used to identify the attribute. Panelists see this name unless a Display name is set.
  • Display name — if set, panelists see this instead of the Name.
  • Details — internal notes about the attribute (maximum 500 characters).
  • Description for panelists — rich text providing additional details to panelists about the attribute.
  • Analyst groups — the group(s) the attribute belongs to. At least one group is required.
  • Active — the attribute status.
Use the Column picker to display Date created and Last modified columns or to hide any other columns displayed by default. Returning to this page will reset it to the default view.

Use the filter bar at the top to search for attributes you are looking for.

Navigate through multiple pages of records using the Previous and Next buttons and control how many records are displayed at once using the Show # entries selector.

Add a New Attribute

  1. In the Attributes library, click + New attribute.

  2. In the modal, populate the fields:
    1. Name - required, maximum 255 characters. Attribute names are not case-sensitive and must be unique within an analyst group, but can be reused across groups where the library is not shared.

    2. Display name - optional, maximum 255 characters.

    3. Details - optional, maximum 500 characters.

    4. Analyst Groups — select at least one group. Only groups where you have Read/Write access or higher will appear.

    5. Active - required, Yes by default. Toggle to No if you want to return to activate the attribute later.

    6. Description for panelists - optional. Click Edit description to open the rich text editor and provide attribute details that are suitable for panelist view.

  3. Click Create attribute.

Edit an Attribute Manually

  1. In the Attributes library, select the attribute you wish to edit.

  2. Click Edit attribute in the action bar.

  3. Update the fields as needed.

  4. Click Save attribute.

Notes You can only edit attributes belonging to groups where you have Read/Write access or higher. If the attribute is shared with a group you do not have edit access to, you will see an error message and will not be able to save.

Add or Remove Analyst Groups

If the attribute group membership is the only thing you need to update in an attribute or across multiple attributes, follow the steps below.

Info
Attributes can be shared across multiple groups, or you can choose to maintain separate Attributes library in each group, even if they contain identical attributes.

  1. Select one or more attributes in the table.

  2. In the action bar, click Add groups or Remove groups.

  3. Select the group(s) to add or remove and confirm.

For individual attributes you can also update the group membership by following the steps for manually editing attributes.

Notes
You can only update group membership for attributes belonging to groups where you have Read/Write access or higher. If the attribute is shared with a group you do not have access to, you will see an error message and will not be able to change group assignment.

Alert
An attribute must always belong to at least one analyst group. Removing the only group from an attribute is not permitted.

Deactivate or Activate Attributes

Attributes cannot be permanently deleted. Instead, to remove an attribute from active use, simply deactivate it.

To deactivate:

  1. Select one or more attributes in the table.

  2. In the action bar, click Deactivate.

To reactivate:
  1. Use the status filter to display Inactive or Active/Inactive (all) attributes.

  2. Select the attribute(s) you wish to reactivate.

  3. In the action bar, click Activate.

Notes
Activating and deactivating attributes requires Read/Write/Delete permission or higher on all groups the attribute belongs to.
