Overview

The Attributes library supports bulk workflows for managing attributes; exporting the full attribute list and two dedicated import wizards: Import new for creating multiple attributes and Import update for editing multiple existing attributes.

Access to the Attributes library is based on your permission level within your analyst group(s). If you do not have access, contact our Support for assistance.

Export Attributes

The list of Analyst groups that attributes belong to cannot be exported.

1. In the action bar, select Import/export and click Export.
   
   
2. Use the Column picker to choose which columns are included in the file. If you will be using this file for updating existing attributes, we recommend including the Attribute ID as the unique identifier.
   
   
3. Download and open the file.
   

The export always contains all attributes included in the analyst group(s) that you have access to. Selecting rows in the table (list) of attributes has no effect on the contents of the export - all of them get exported.

Run an export first when preparing an Import update file — it provides the attribute IDs required for mapping your updates. 

Import New Attributes

Attribute names must be unique within each analyst group. Duplicate names in the same group will be rejected.

The import file should not include an ID column; IDs are generated automatically during the import.

Import attributes as Inactive if you want to fine-tune the panelist descriptions in the rich text editor after the import, then activate the attributes once they are ready for use.

Group membership cannot be updated through Import new. It is managed separately using the Add groups and Remove groups actions (see Add or Remove Analyst Groups).

1. In the Attributes library, in the action bar, select Import/export and click Import new to open the wizard.
   
   
2. If needed, click Download sample CSV to download a template file with the correct format. You can also download it here at the bottom of this page (file named "AttributeLibrary_ImportUpdate_Example.csv").
   
   
3. Prepare your file if you have not already. Name is required for every row and the Status column must be set to Active or Inactive. If this column is not included, all new attributes will be set to Active by default.
   
   
4. Select the Analyst group(s) the new attributes should belong to. Analyst groups cannot be assigned from within the import file - they are always selected in the wizard.
   
   
5. Select the default Font family and Font size to apply to the imported attribute descriptions.
   
   
6. Select your file and run the import.

Partial imports: valid rows from the file are still imported even if others fail. If any rows fail, download the error file for a list of failed rows and reasons, fix them, and re-import just those rows.

Update Attributes From a File

AttributeId column is required in the file to map each row to its attribute, however, attribute IDs cannot be changed through an import.

After the AttributeId, include only the columns you want to change. Fields not included in the file will not be modified in the library.

The Status column must not be included in the file. If this column is included, the rows with data in it will fail.

You need at least Read/Write permissions to the group you are updating attributes in to perform the update.

1. In the Attributes library, in the action bar, select Import/export and click Import update to open the wizard.
   
   
2. If needed, click Download sample CSV to download a template file with the correct format. You can also download it here at the bottom of this page (file named "AttributeLibrary_ImportUpdate_Example.csv").
   
   
3. Prepare your file if you have not already. AttributeId is required plus one more filed. The AttributeId is required to identify the attribute you wish to update and the other field or fields is what you will be updating. AttributeId cannot be updated.
   
   The Status column must not be included in the file. If this column is included, the rows with data in it will fail.
   
   
4. Select the default Font family and Font size to apply to the imported attribute descriptions.
   
   
5. Select your file and import it. A confirmation shows how many attributes were updated. If any rows fail, an error file is available to download and review.
