Email History

Email History

Overview

All email communication with panelists initiated by analysts from within a test, or directly from the Panelists library, or from a Schedule, is stored and available for your review in the Email history.  Whether an email was sent by you or your colleagues, whether it was sent from a test, or from a Schedule, or from the Panelists library, whether an email was already sent or is scheduled to be sent in the future, you can find it by following the steps in this workflow.

The Email history provides detailed email event history (or logs), which can be beneficial in determining whether there were any emails that did not reach the panelists.

Access Email History Within Tests

Emails sent to panelists from within tests are available for review within those tests, but they can also be found inside the Panelists library. Follow the steps below to access the scheduled and sent emails from within individual tests.
  1. From the Dashboard, locate a test in which you wish to check the email history, and open it.

  2. Click Panelists > Email > Email history.

  3. Use the Column picker to customize the list of columns displayed. Click the Subject line of the email you are looking for.

If you do not see the email you are interested in, adjust how many entries are shown per page, or use the page navigation buttons at the bottom of the list to locate the desired email.

You can always use the Filter feature to assist you in your search. Characters entered in the Filter box will be used in the search inside the email body, in subject lines, and date fields.

If you still cannot find the email you are looking for, maybe you are not in the right test. Try searching for the email from within the Panelists library by following the next set of steps on this page.

  4. Review the email details.
    1. In this screen you have an option to modify scheduled emails, but emails that have already been sent cannot be modified.

    2. Select an email and click View.

    3. At the bottom of the email, on the left-hand side, click the Email event history button to review the activities revolving around the selected email, for every panelist that was included in the email.

Access Email History Within Schedules

Emails sent to panelists from within schedules are available for review within those schedules, but they can also be found inside the Panelists library.

Notes
Automated schedule emails, such as booking confirmation, or cancellation, will not be visible in the Panelists library.

Follow the steps below to access the scheduled and sent emails from within individual schedules.
  1. From the Dashboard, click Schedules and locate a schedule in which you wish to check the email history, and open it.

If you still cannot find the email you are looking for, maybe you are not in the right schedule.

Access Email History in the Panelists Library

All email communication with panelists initiated by an analyst can be viewed from the Panelists library. The exceptions are the automated emails sent from schedules, such as booking confirmation, or cancellation.
  1. From the black ribbon at the top, select Libraries > Panelists.

  2. Click History > Email history.

Understanding the Email Event History

The Email event history shows detailed information about the lifecycle of an email. Whether you accessed the Email event history  by following the above steps from within a test, or a Schedule, or the Panelists library, the information you will find here will be the same.

Idea
If you are looking for emails that failed, for example, in the Filter feature, start typing the word bounce. All the panelists that did not receive your email due to email address issues will be listed.

Here is the legend for some of the events you may come across:
Event
Description
Sent
The email was sent from Compusense to the panelist.

This does not mean that the panelist received the email.
Delivered
The email was successfully received by the panelist's email server.

If a panelist complains that they have not received the email, they should check their Junk/Spam folder, or contact their IT.
Opened
The panelist opened the email.

This does not guarantee that they read the email.
Link clicked
If you included a link in your email, this indicates that the panelist clicked the link.

This does not guarantee that they performed everything you expected them to after they clicked the link.
Soft bounce
The email delivery was attempted, but the email bounced back. There could be various reasons for this, such as recipient's Inbox is full, or the email address is invalid, or different technical difficulties. The Compusense servers will try to deliver again. If it fails again, the new event will be "Hard bounce", as seen below.
Hard bounce
The email address is invalid/non-existent. Compusense servers are unable to deliver the email to the particular email address.
Proxy open
Some panelists have extra security features on their email inboxes. This event means that their email provider 'opened' the email on their behalf.

This does not mean that the panelist has, in fact, opened the email yet.
