Products: Attribute Limits
Overview
If you are currently using, or are planning on using the
Products library, and would like to incorporate
into your reporting various attributes with their limits and targets relevant to specific products, you can set those attributes up in the Products library. On this page you will learn how to do that.
Additional reporting options for this feature will be implemented in the near future. At this time you can prepare the attributes with their limits and targets for specific products and use our Graphing across tests tool.
Where to Set Attribute Limits and Targets
- From the black ribbon at the top, select Libraries > Products .
If you do not have any products yet, create a product group, import the products (you can also import products with "special" characters), or add products manually.
Please contact our Support Team for more information if unsure how to organize your Products library. It is very important to organize the products properly in order to benefit from various reporting options.
- Click on the Product code to open the Product card. Click the Attribute limits tab. This is where all the attribute management can take place by following the steps found further down on this page.
If you add or import an attribute, you can leave the Limits and Targets blank and return later to update them.
You can enter only a Target if that is applicable, without the Limits, but if you entered one of the Limits, you have to enter another one, too. Target is not required in any situation.
Import Attributes, Limits, and Targets
First prepare a file for the import. If you do not have a file handy, you can export at least one of the existing attributes to help you with the file format. If you do not have any attributes available for exporting, feel free to download the template file found at the bottom of this page and use as a guide for formatting purposes. Once your file is up to date, close it, and follow the steps below to import it.
- In the Product card, click the Attribute limits tab and click Edit.
- Click Import, browse to your file, and double-click to open it. The import will take place if the file was properly formatted.
- Review the attribute list and when happy with it, click Save. Click Close if done editing attributes.
Manually Add Attributes, Limits, and Targets
- In the Product card, click the Attribute limits tab and click Edit.
- From the bottom left corner, click Add attribute.
- Click on the Attribute dropdown list to select an existing attribute name.
- If the attribute you are looking for is not in the list, you can type in a new attribute name. Be sure to click on the newly created attribute name to save it. Otherwise you might need to type it again.
- If you are sure that the attribute name should be in the list, but you do not see it, check whether that attribute is already added to the product you are working on. If an attribute is already added to a product, it cannot be added again, and therefore is removed from the list of available attributes.
- If applicable, populate the Lower limit, Target, and Upper limit. You can leave the Limits and Targets blank and return later to update them.
You can enter only a Target if that is applicable, without the Limits, but if you entered one of the Limits, you have to enter another one, too. Target is not required in any situation.
- Review the attribute list and when happy with it, click Save. Click Close if done editing attributes.
Edit Attributes, Limits, and Targets
- In the Product card, click the Attribute limits tab and click Edit.
- To update the Attribute name, click on the Attribute dropdown list to select an existing attribute name.
- If
the attribute you are looking for is not in the list, you can type in a
new attribute name. Be sure to click on the newly created attribute
name to save it. Otherwise you might need to type it again.
- If
you are sure that the attribute name should be in the list, but you do
not see it, check whether that attribute is already added to the
product you are working on. If an attribute is already added to a
product, it cannot be added again, and therefore is removed from the
list of available attributes.
- To update Lower limit, Target, and Upper limit, type directly into these fields as needed.
Export Attributes, Limits, and Targets
- In the Product card, click the Attribute limits tab and click Export.
- Open the file, review and/or update as necessary. Exported attributes can be useful for obtaining file formatting compatible with attribute import functionality.
- Review the attribute list and if necessary, click Edit to modify them. Click Close if done editing attributes.
Generate graphs on your data across multiple tests including the attribute limits in the graph.
In our example image below, we can see that the DFC attribute (see the point #1) has the lower limit of 1 and upper limit of 2 (see the point #2), and the target is set to 1 (see the line in the point #3).
