Reset Panelist Password Manually
Overview
For security reasons, the passwords are not retrievable in any way after the panelists are added to the
Panelists library. Therefore, it is not possible to display to panelists what their password is. If they forget their password a new password needs to be created.
There could be an exception where you might know panelists' passwords because you created the passwords for them, such as those for
guest logins, or
generic passwords for registered panelists. Even so, this knowledge is available to you through other resources, such as saved .csv file, but it is still not retrievable from our software. In other words, it cannot be dynamically displayed to panelists using
Wildcards. In this case you would have to provide the password to individual panelists verbally, or by typing or pasting it into your email communication.
This workflow's focus is on how to manually reset panelist password for them, one panelist at a time.
Example scenarios (you might even have your own!) where manually resetting panelist passwords for them could be useful are:
- Scenario A: The testing is taking place in the lab, a panelist forgot their password (it happens), but in the lab the panelist does not have access to their email to reset their own password. In a click of a button, you give them a temporary password to enable them to go through the test on time. At their convenience and if they choose to, they can reset their own password later.
- Scenario B: A generic panelist was manually added to the Panelists library for testing purposes. At that time the password for the generic panelist was set, but in a hurry was not recorded anywhere, or it was misrecorded, or misplaced. You need to use this panelist to collect some test data to review analysis. Reset the password and continue with your testing!
Visit the
Panelists Library page for workflows that may be more suitable to your scenario.
You could search for a panelist across entire Panelists library, or if you know which panel they belong to, you can locate them directly. Below are the steps for both search methods.
Reset Panelist Password - Search Across the Panelists Library
This might be the fastest method to find your panelist regardless whether or not you know which panel they belong to:
- From the black ribbon at the top, select Libraries > Panelists.
- Click Panelist password reset.
- Search for the panelist. If necessary, refine your search, or adjust how many panelists are shown per page, or use the page numbers navigation buttons at the bottom of the list to locate the desired panelist.
- Click in the white circle in front of the panelist's information to select the panelist.
- In the Reset password box, type the new password and click Apply.
- Repeat the steps for any additional panelists that may require manual password reset.
Reset Panelist Password - Search Within a Panel
If you know exactly which panel the panelist belongs to, follow these steps:
- From the black ribbon at the top, select Libraries > Panelists.
- Locate the panelist whose password you wish to update. If necessary, use the Filter to find your panelist.
- Click on the Username of the panelist. The Panelist card will open.
- In the Panelist card, in the Profile tab, click Reset password.
- Enter the new password and click Reset password. At the bottom of the screen you should get a confirmation whether or not the password was successfully reset.
- To reset the password for another panelist, click Panelists and repeat above steps. Otherwise click the home icon in the top right-hand corner to return to the test list.
Panelists will not get any email notifications about the password reset. You will have to provide them with the new password.
