TI Workbook

Overview 

The Time Intensity (TI) test data can be analyzed directly in Compusense by generating the TI Workbook report. On this page you will learn how to generate the report and what various options exist to help you meet your analysis needs.

Generate the Report 

  1. Go to the Results . If you need to exclude specific samples and/or sample sets from the analysis, click Filters and make necessary selections. Save the changes.

  2. Click on the Reports menu and select Create report .

  3. From the list of reports, select TI workbook.

  4. Click the 2. Select options menu and specify whether you would like to include any of the time intensity curves, parameters, if your test had multiple reps, whether you would like to include the TI-R analysis in the report, and whether you want to apply curve smoothing.


    1. Include time intensity average curves.
      This option is selected by default. When selected, a sheet named Average Graphs will be included in the report, containing one graph for all samples, showing the average curve.

    2. Include panelist time intensity curves.
      This option is selected by default. When selected, individual sheets named Sample #, where "#" represents the sample number, will be included in the report. These sheets contain graphs for individual panelists showing their curve and the panel average curve for the sample reported on that sheet.

    3. Include TI-R.
      This option is available for selection only if your test is set up with reps. When selected, a sheet named TI-R will be included in the report, containing data in tables for each attribute for every rep and every sample set (panelist).

    4. Include time intensity parameters.
      This option is selected by default. When selected, a sheet named Export Parameters will be included in the report, containing tables for individual samples, showing various parameters used in generating curves. More details are available in the next section of this page (Report Review).

    5. Curve smoothing.
      Images in below examples represent the same data when different smoothing options are applied.
      1. No smoothing. This is the default selection. When this option is selected, no smoothing is applied to the curves.


      2. Less smooth. When this option is selected, smoothing is applied to the curves. The below image shows the curves being smoother than when no smoothing is applied on the same data, as seen in the previous image.


      3. Smooth. When this option is selected, smoothing level applied to the curves is medium.


      4. More smooth. When this option is selected, the highest smoothing level is applied to the curves.


  5. All the Time Intensity questions are by default selected to be included in the report. Click the 3. Select questions to review and make necessary changes.

  6. The report can be generated in .xlsx file format only. Click Create my report , download the file and open it.


Report Review

The analysis workbook for TI data includes the following sheets:
  1. Average Graphs:
    Displays the average of all complete responses for all included samples. There is one graph per attribute.  


  1. Sample #
    Displays the average for each sample set (panelist) per attribute for given sample. Each sample is displayed on a separate sheet. 



  1. TI-R:
    The Time Intensity Reliability report provides an analysis of the reliability of panelists' time intensity measurements across multiple reps.   



  1. Export Parameters:
    The Curve parameters.



The overall Panel parameters are calculated from the average curve (the average time across entire raw data included in the analysis). The overall Panel average will not match the average of the parameters of individual panelists.


Interpreting the Parameters List:



  1. Time Of Max:
    Time at maximum intensity - The time (in seconds) that it took for the panelist to reach maximum intensity.

  2. Inten. At Max:
    Maximum intensity - The highest point on the curve as recorded by each panelist.

  3. Dur.
    Duration - The total time (in seconds) from the time the attribute is first detected to the finish of the test.

  4. Area Under Curve:
    The total area under the curve.

  5. Inc. Angle:
    Increase angle - The angle (in degrees) of ascent from the first recorded value to the maximum intensity.

  6. Inc. Area:
    Increase area - The area under the ascending portion of the curve from start to maximum intensity.

  7. Dec. Angle:
    Decrease angle - The angle (in degrees) of descent from maximum intensity to the last recorded value.

  8. Dec. Area:
    Decrease area - The area under the descending portion of the curve from Imax to the last recorded value.

  9. Initial Delay:
    The amount of time (in seconds) that it took for the panelist to record their first response.

  10. Initial Inten.
    The first intensity response that the panelist records if there is an instantaneous stimulus.
