Embed Videos in Compusense

Embed Videos in Compusense

Overview

You can embed videos into your Compusense ballots to better depict product features or otherwise enhance panelist experience.

The videos cannot be merely inserted into a screen in Compusense because of the potential issues with video file sizes; they need to be hosted on a video streaming platform such as YouTube, for example, and then embedded into Compusense screens.

In this workflow we will show you how to properly embed videos in text editors.

Before You Begin

Your video needs to exist on another hosting platform. There is no restriction from Compusense side as to what platform you use, as long as that platform provides you with the "embed code".

Let's use YouTube as an example. This would be an overall process to obtain the embed code and you can apply similar strategy with other video hosting platforms:
  1. Upload your video to YouTube and set it to "Unlisted".

  2. Go to your video on YouTube and click "Share".

  3. Click "Embed" and it will provide you with "embed" code. Click "Copy".

By following these steps, you copied the code necessary for playing the video in Compusense. You may now go to the next step while the code is still in the memory ("clipboard"), or you can paste it in a Notepad and continue later.

Embed Video

  1. In a Compusense test, go to the Build tab.

  2. Go to the question or Text/time delay screen where you wish to embed the video.

  3. Click in the text portion of the question or Text/time delay screen to activate the text editor.

  4. In the text editor menu bar, locate the angle brackets (chevrons) icon. When you hover over it, it will show Code View tooltip.

  5. Click the angle brackets icon and at the bottom of the existing code paste the "embed code" you copied in previous set of steps.

  6. Click the angle brackets icon again or click out of the text editor to save the changes. Before making any size modifications, go to the next step to verify the panelist view.

  7. Launch the test preview from the Review tab or start the test to preview the video. Use the browser tools to preview the test in various screen sizes.

  8. If you are happy with its position on the page and the size, you are done.

If, however, you would like to make a change to the position of the video on the page or its size, go back to the Build tab and do the following:
    1. To update the size: Click the angle brackets icon, locate and modify the "width" and "height" attributes ensuring that the numbers are surrounded with quotation marks as seen in the image below. Click the angle brackets icon again or click out of the text editor to save the changes.

    2. To change the alignment: Click in front of the video and from the text editor menu bar at the top, select one of the alignment icons.
