Saving Files in a .csv Format

Overview

Working in Compusense means that sooner or later you will need to import a .csv file to meet some of your testing needs. It could be that you need to import panelists or a custom design.

We find that, depending on you MS Excel settings, when saving your work in a .csv format, confusing messages can sometimes be displayed. These in return can make saving .csv files somewhat challenging. 

In this workflow, we will show you how to properly save Excel files in a .csv format. Although indirectly related to our other workflows, these steps are applicable even when you are not working with Compusense.

Your Excel settings may not be displaying any messages when saving files in a .csv format. This workflow is intended only for those users who are presented with messages described in this workflow when attempting to save files in a .csv format.  

Scenario:   Let's suppose that you need to create a custom design (Experimental Plan) for your upcoming test. The design needs to be saved as a .csv file in order to import it into Cloud.

Our focus in this workflow is on saving the file as a .csv, it is not how to create and import the design.


Saving .csv Files

  1. Open the file you wish to save as a .csv file.  
  2. Select  File > Save As  and select a folder where you wish to save the file.  
  3. From the  Save as type  list, select the   CSV (Comma delimited)  option and update the file name, if necessary. 
  4. Click  Save 
  5. When prompted with the message as seen in the image below, click   Yes 



  6. Close the file. You may be presented with another message similar to the one in the image below: 

      
  7. Click   Don't Save   because you already saved the file.
